Yu Jihui: “A Stinking Old Ninth – A Tale of the Coal Capital” (updated on July 2020)

As a sports teacher, I felt my life was better than

when I was a Chinese teacher. I had an ambition. I

was determined to set up two basketball teams - one

boys’ team and one girls’ team. I would train them

systematically so as to win the championship in the

city’s middle school basketball competition. I

together. I trained them seriously and they took it

seriously too. They made quick progress. Half a year

later, the men’s team won the second place while the

girls’ team won the third place in the city middle

school basketball match. I was happy. The school
