However, a rumor quickly spread across the

school – ‘Soapy had taken a fancy to a girl in the

school girls’ team’. In the girls’ team, there was a

girl who had the makings of a fine basketball player.

She could run quickly and jump high. She had good

ductility. She especially worshiped me and often

consulted me with some questions about basketball. I

did like her and patiently taught her and set examples

for her to learn from. She made quick progress. But

that was completely a relationship between a teacher

and student. It had nothing to do with love. But the

rumor said that I had fallen in love with her. It said

that when I taught her to play basketball, I would

hold her hands or hold her waist and I got hold of her
