will be punished seriously for this!”
“You said I had illicit intercourse with Black
Peony. Do you have evidence?” I asked him in return.
“Of course, I do!” he said, smiling triumphantly.
“Show me the evidence!”
He took out the piece of paper on which he had
recorded what Black Peony had said and signed. He
presented it to me to read. After I read it, I was as
dumbfound as a log. I didn’t even believe my eyes.
However, I recovered quickly. I was wild with fury
and shouted ferociously, “Persecution! This is
persecution!”
“You deny what you have done with Black
Peony, don’t you?”
“Yes, I deny it. I have not done anything wrong
with her. I’m innocent!”
