My face lit up and a fire of hope kindled in my heart.

It said they were looking for a man between 30 and

40 years of age. The man needed to be excellent at

pronunciation, good at comprehension, good at

grammar, had to be a graduate from a teacher’s

university, and above all, the man needed to teach for

more than 24 hours a week.

“I’ll apply for the job. I’m sure I can get it. I

fulfill all the requirements advertised in the

newspaper!” I said.

“Do you have confidence that you will win the

job?”

“Yes, I do. I’m especially good at pronunciation.

I can speak beautiful English.”
