                       “He was not  my birth father. He was  my


               stepfather. But he was very good me.  He  was a



               professor of mathematics. He had been tutoring me


               since I  started  school. That’s  how  I skipped  two



               grades  and  later got  admission into a famous


               university and got a Master’s degree. I owe all of this



               to him. But he died two years ago. I have been


               cherishing the memory of him.”



                       “So it was him who financed your education,



               right?”


                       “Yes, it was.”


                       “Does your mother have a job?”



                       “No, she does not. She is only a house wife. But



               she is not an ordinary woman. She used to be a good


               singer. In her twenties, before the Liberation (before



               the Communist Party of China set up its regime in


               1949), she  had gained considerable  fame amongst



               her contemporaries. She was not only a good singer
