He laughed. At 6pm, a sumptuous dinner was
prepared. The regimental commander invited us to
the feast. It was in the regimental commander’s
living room, which was about thirty square meters.
There were only a bed and a table in it. In the middle
of the room was a large table. On top of it lay plenty
of delicacies. When we were led into the room, we
saw the regimental commander and three junior
officers sitting there. As soon as they saw us, they
stood up to welcome us. They seemed overly
enthusiastic. The junior officers were asked to help
entertain us. As soon as the feast began, they
immediately stood up to propose toasts to Xi Si. Xi
Si never drank. She couldn’t stand liqueur. She
refused to drink, but they urged her to drink again
and again. Sometimes they chanted rhymes to urge
her to drink, such as when one drinks with a bosom
