In our dormitory building, there was a canteen.

But Big Li seldom ate there. He would eat in the

canteen close to the administration building. In that

canteen there was a maid. She would sell meals and

dishes. She was in her early twenties and very

beautiful. Big Li would go to her to buy meals and

dishes. The girl was cold to everybody. Big Li tried

many times to ingratiate himself with her, but she

would ignore him. One day, the girl suddenly fell to

the ground while she was selling a meal. Big Li

carried her to the hospital quickly on his own

initiative. But it was still too late. She died of a heart

attack and was put into the hospital mortuary. It was

a small independent house in the back yard of the

hospital. An old man was in charge of it.

Next morning, when the girl’s parents went into

the mortuary to carry her to the crematorium, they

found the girl had been raped by somebody. They
