About one hour later, Plump Doll was back.

“Comrades,” she said, as soon as she stepped on

to the platform. “Please put your books away. I have

an important announcement to make.”

All the students raised their heads from their

books, fixing their eyes on Plump Doll. The

classroom became very quiet.

“We’ll have an urgent denounce meeting.” She

paused for a moment while sweeping her eyes over

the students. The students were stupefied at first and

then they, like a group of frightened bees, discussed

the announcement with each other. They all asked

one same question — Whom should they denounce?

Why?

“We’ll denounce White Swan! Why do we

denounce her? That’s because she has violated the
