               some sort of  expectation on his face. He expected



               that she would appreciate him and that she would be


               happy and excited. He thought she would accept it



               happily and  would  be so  grateful to  him that she


               would fall into his embrace. It was a time when the



               great cultural revolution was on the rise. But people’s


               lives were very hard in the Northeast. Pork was



               strictly  rationed. It was very precious. Each month,



               each person was provided with only half a kilogram


               of it. People were  very greedy. Their  eyes would


               glow whenever they saw pork. Some people were so



               greedy that even the mention of it would make them



               slobber. They had a  good stomach for it. So he


               thought Xi Si would at least smile when she saw it.



               But to his astonishment, Xi Si pulled a long face and


               resolutely refused to accept  it.  She said sternly,
